The Center for Jewish Studies at QC presents Polish and German Anti-Semitism As Seen through the Eyes of Soviet Jews, Prof. Elissa Bemporad, QC

Elissa Bemporad is assistant professor of history at Queens College and the Jerry & William Ungar Professor in Eastern European History and the Holocaust. She is the author of "Becoming Soviet Jews: The Bolshevik Experiment in Minsk, 1917-1939" (Indiana University Press, 2013), which recently won the prestigious National Jewish Book Award for 2013. In her lecture Dr. Bemporad will analyze reports on the legal discrimination and persecution endured by the Jews of Poland and Nazi Germany that appeared in the Soviet press from 1936 to 1939. This program is endowed by Marvin and Celina Zborowski.
